2020 Lake Martha Curly-Leaf Weed Control Plan

March 13, 2020

Hi All,

As a result of the meeting Tuesday March 10, and as you will find in the minutes when they get posted, a couple of motions were voted on and passed.  Most immediate of note was regarding curly leaf weed treatment.  The decision was made, as we consider performing large area treatments on the advice and guidance of Craig Mueller of Aquatic Solutions, the best course of action is to hold off on any larger/lake-wide treatment this season, and to have a lake weed survey conducted as done back in 2015 so we know where the problematic patches are rooted.  With that, as an association it was voted we will be moving away from using Midwest AquaCare for our weed treatment needs and begin using the more local and hopefully more timely services of Aquatic Solutions – who would also help us with the large area treatments and any self-treatment training we may adopt in the future.  This also changes the process from the past, at least for this season.  In the past, treatment forms were delivered to myself or other officers of the association along with annual membership dues.  Now, the treatment forms will be submitted directly to the vendor and dues should be directed separately to me or other officers.  Important notes and steps:

1 – Weed treatment.  If you elect to have your shoreline treated for curly leaf, please complete and return the application form directly to Aquatic Solutions (must be returned by April 15th).

2 – Annual dues.  It was voted and approved at our Sept 17, 2019 meeting that membership fees for 2020 would be set at $100 for lake residents, and $50 for non-shoreline members.  This increase is to compensate for the annual electricity bill for running the aeration system.  These sums are due by or before May 1st so please make an effort to get those in as soon as convenient before May.

Thanks in advance,

Treasurer-Lake Martha Improvement Association
